Originally operated as Waialua Bakery by Sadamu Oka, this landmark neighborhood spot was sold to Haleiwa Super Market Ltd. and renamed Paalaa Kai Bakery in 1982. PKB has spent decades earning its celebrated reputation as “Waialua’s Favorite Hometown Bakery”
Famous among locals and visitors alike, the bakery delivers traditional baked goods with a distinct local twist. PKB is best known for its legendary & original Snow Puffy—a chilled, multi-layered puff pastry filled with silky custard cream, finished off with a chocolate drizzle and a heavy dusting of powdered sugar. Alongside these iconic treats, the bakery serves up freshly fried Sada’s Malassadas, local-style savory snacks, and a host of sweet “but not-too-sweet” treats.
